The renovation of Nestor Hall Auditorium has transformed the campus’s primary performance venue into a state-of-the-art space for theater, music, and special events, enriching both the educational environment and the cultural life of the broader Columbus community.
Originally a 335-seat venue, the redesigned auditorium now accommodates 250 guests, offering improved sightlines, expanded wheelchair access, and optimized acoustics. The design carefully balanced aesthetic impact with acoustic performance, incorporating reflective, diffusive, and absorptive materials to create a rich auditory experience for audiences and performers alike. The stage lighting and configuration nod to the flexibility of a black box theater while maintaining the integrity of the proscenium layout.
Behind the scenes, updates included expanded dressing rooms, enhanced storage, and a flexible scene shop that extends stage functionality. The control room was enlarged to support dedicated lighting and audio operations, while public entries were reimagined to minimize disruptions during performances. Renovations to the lobby and restrooms further promote inclusivity and comfort, ensuring a welcoming experience for all.
With these enhancements, Nestor Hall is now a modern, versatile venue that supports the arts and strengthens community engagement through performance and education.
