Multi-Species Animal Learning Center

At the heart of its mission, The Ohio State University’s Waterman Farms serves as a dynamic hub for teaching, research, and community engagement. It connects the academic community, industry partners, and the public to advance knowledge, share discoveries, and shape the next generation of leaders in agriculture and food systems.

Driving this vision forward is the new Multi-Species Animal Learning Center (MALC), a groundbreaking facility reimagining how we teach, learn, and engage with animal science. MALC acts as a catalyst for evolving educational models while expanding the reach and relevance of agricultural engagement across Ohio and beyond.

Designed to inspire curiosity and connection, the center will welcome an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 visitors each year. Its integrated spaces for animal care, hands-on learning, and public programming create an immersive visitor experience, offering interactive and self-guided opportunities to explore Ohio’s agricultural heritage, emerging innovations in food and health, and the future of sustainable farming.
