Many of the existing systems and elevator cabs in this project are original to the buildings. The modernization upgrades out-of-date systems to provide much more reliable vertical transportation service to the building occupants. The project included the modernization of 6 elevators in 4 campus buildings throughout the main Ohio State campus. The scope of work upgraded the existing building elevators to the current code requirements and OSU elevator standards. The buildings included in the project are Enarson Classroom Building, Newton Hall, the Journalism Building, and 33 W. 11thAve. The majority of the elevators are located in classroom buildings in very dense campus areas. The design team coordinated with OSU for the many logistical requirements within each building to minimize the impact to the building occupants during construction.
