The University of Colorado Cancer Center Molecular Pathology Shared Resource, in collaboration with Colorado Genetics Lab, studies chromosomes for research and diagnostic purposes. The project relocated 11,000 sf of the laboratory to a new home near the Stapleton Town Center. The mapped workflows determined room placement while addressing each room’s own regulatory requirements. Specialty labs include a Short-Term Lab, a Slide Making Lab, a “FISH” Lab, a Prenatal/Tumor Lab, and an Array Lab.
Fluorescence utilized in the FISH Room dictates a darkroom environment; the workspaces counterpose the dark environment by capturing abundant north light creating an uplifting and bright work environment for the research staff.
